| We trust that the Bible is God's perfect book of life for life. We believe God has protected the transmission of His Word through the ages so that we can know what He does, says, believes, and feels. The Bible tells us what doctrines to teach and what morals to practice. It establishes the values and ethics we live by and pass on to the next generation. Through the Bible we can know God and the life that comes through faith in His Son, Jesus Christ. We also understand that through the Bible only, we have authority, and we strive to speak where the Bible speaks and be silent where the Bible is silent. The Bible speaks for itself and shows us it is all sufficent..
"that by revelation there was made known to me the mystery, as I wrote before in brief. By referring to this, when you read you can understand my insight into the mystery of Christ, which in other generations was not made known to the sons of men, as it has now been revealed to His holy apostles and prophets in the Spirit" Ephesians 3:3-5
"For we write nothing else to you than what you read and understand, and I hope you will understand until the end" 2 Corinthians 1:13
"from childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus." 2 Timothy 3:15 "
He read from the book before the square which was in front of the Water Gate from early morning until midday, in the presence of men and women, those who could understand; and all the people were attentive to the book of the law. ... They read from the book, from the law of God, translating [cf. Ezra 4:18] to give the sense so that they understood the reading." Nehemiah 8:3,8
"For the heart of this people has become dull, With their ears they scarcely hear, And they have closed their eyes, Otherwise they would see with their eyes, Hear with their ears, And understand with their heart and return, And I would heal them." Matthew 13:15
How Can We Know That The Bible Is Really The Word Of God?
The Unity Of The Bible. Unity of Theme running throughout the text. Unity of doctrine. One God Creation. Nature of man (Gen. 1:26; 2:7; Eccl. 12:7; Mt. 10:28; 1 Thes. 5:23. Blood (Gen. 4:4; Lev. 17:11; Mt. 26:28; Jno. 19:34.
Historical Credibility. Real persons, real events, real places. Flood: 250 and 300 flood accounts have been discovered. In the late 1800's, Sir William Ramsey, a scholar who was skeptical of the authenticity of the Book of Acts, set out upon an archaeological expedition in Asia Minor with the declared intention of disproving the historicity and accuracy of that book. After years of research, literally digging up evidence, he completely reversed his views. He became convinced that Luke had authored Acts. He wrote:"Luke's history is unsurpassed in respect of its trustworthiness...Luke is a historian of the first rank; not merely are his statements of fact trustworthy; he is possessed of the true historic sense...this author should be placed along with the very greatest of all historians" (Luke the Physician.177-179,222).
